Let’s be clear about what happened to Jimmy Kimmel. He was fired for his schtick. It’s not that I particularly care about Jimmy Kimmel or his brand of commentary. His opening monologue is exhausting and uninspiring and it was very divisive and insulting to moderate sensibilities. He dedicated all his energy to lampooning Trump. I found it to be lazy and unoriginal. As for why he wast fired, I totally disagree with the cause for dismissal. The studio heads across all the major networks are spineless turds that need to stand up to these attacks on our freedom of speech.
Poor Guillermo
Jimmy Kimmel is going to be just fine. He’s lazy. Jimmy Kimmel made a living out of punching down. I now shift my attention to his sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez. Regardless of Guillermo being an American citizen, I can see this guy getting a visit from ICE and deported to South Sudan even though he was born in Mexico. You can’t make this shit up. It’s sad. I don’t know what is quintessetially American anymore? it’s not freedom of speech. IMHO opinion, politics is boring. It’s not funny even though we have a president that is a joke and can’t take a joke.
Shocking?
We should be shocked by this, but you can’t be shocked by corporate behavior. There is going to be outrage all over the spectrum, but American broadcasters are going to forge forward unencumbered. It’s of no consequence to their viewership. They will find some other shiny object to dangle in front of us to take our attention away from what just happened. Jimmy’s time slot maybe replaced by a Charlie Kirk type persona and this would not be stranger than fiction. In this climate, I don’t think so. Then again, we’ve taken the most boring subject of all time – politics – and turned it into a blood sport where heads roll.
