Charlie Kirk, Charlie Hebdo, and any other Charlie, Charlene, Charles or Chucky cannot die for their political views. Full stop! There is no scenario where someone’s belief should result in their death. Liberty is a soul’s right to breathe. Let them speak! Keeping Americans divided along political fault lines is by design. Honestly, I don’t know much about Charlie Kirk. I don’t subscribe to the chaos created by political blowhards, analysts, pundits, activists, commentators, etc. How can you take any of these people seriously? Freedom isn’t free. Handsome sums are being made in discord promoted as discouse.
Open The Floodgates
Check out the comments made by MSNBC political analyst Matthew Dowd after the shooting of Charlie Kirk. During the broadcast, Dowd speculated that the shooting could have been carried out by one of Kirk’s own supporters firing a gun in “celebration.” He also stated that “hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions” and suggested that the environment Kirk was in was an unfortunate result of such a progression. Dowd subsequently apologized and was fired from the network. In his apology, he stated that he did not intend to blame Kirk for the attack and condemned violence of any kind. Now you know why I can’t take any of these people seriously. They’re all insane.
What I do know I about Charlie Kirk is he liked to stir the pot. He wore hot button issues like merit badges of an eagle scout uniform. Charlie Kirk loved the friction he created, because without friction how can you start a fire? It’s also clear to everyone that Donald Trump coveted Charlie Kirk and Kirk obliged Trump. For example, Kirk was done talking about Epstein only three days after he advocated for release of the Epstein files. It’s clear to me that Charlie Kirk was Trump’s useful idiot. He delivered Trump votes from the youth which the Republican party struggled to connect with for so many years. Charlie was rewarded handsomely with a platform from where to hone his craft. It was a win win for everyone.
Job Opening
I believe It’s the threat of losing this hard fought demographic that the Republican party is mourning today. The casting call is out and there is a gaggle of replacements lined up around the block ready to audition. Tomi Lahren? Ben Shapiro? Candace? It goes without saying, this next super-conservative iteration of Kirk is going to be even more edgy and louder. It’ll be Charlie 2.0 and may even be marketed as such. It’s going to be a no holds barred kind of person that they can parachute into college campuses and raise the temperature to new highs.
Equal parts human and rabid badger are highlighted as requirements in the job description. Charlie 2.0 will hit you with the facts and alternative facts. They will build their base on false equivalencies. With a bible in one hand and a copy of the US Constitution in the other, and an American eagle perched on their shoulder they will preach their truths. Overhead a dove will fly with an olive branch to symbolize empathy and peace. It will be glorious. Charlie Kirk’s death was not in vain.
Freedom is Free
I hear and see the same tired themes that accompany this kind of tragedy. Thoughts and prayers are out of style now. Rage, anger, apathy, and jaded indifference is en vogue. Today, people are talking about how we need to respect each other and allow people to be able to debate openly. At the same time, advocating for the death penalty, Stalinist modeled pograms, vigilante justice, mass deportations, etc. To this I say, “Fuck You.” You live in the freest country in the world and you can say whatever the fuck you want to. Freedom is Free, but you choose to double down on the insanity and chaos you claim is only spewed from the “other side”. Grow up! Your words do matter. Own your shit! Charle Kirk clearly owned his words and understood that Freedom of Speech and Expression is a cornerstone of our democracy.
Even though I disagree with almost everything Charlie Kirk believed and said, I respect him and his rights that are the same rights afforded to me and every other American. It doesn’t give anyone the right or motivation to kill another person because of their political views. Every life is precious. Charlie Kirk had the courage to stand up for his convictions. He welcomed and encouraged people to come in and debate him. This takes guts. His murder didn’t silence Charlie Kirk. It elevated him. The irony is not lost on me that Charlie Kirk was the victim of gun violence while addressing a question about gun violence. I don’t believe he would want his death to infringe on our second amendment rights. In the final analysis, Je Suis Charlie Kirk.
“That’s the way the ruling class operates in any society: they try to divide the rest of the people; they keep the lower and the middle classes fighting with each other so that they, the rich, can run off with all the fucking money. Fairly simple thing… happens to work…”
